Spring break is right around the corner and you’re flat broke and dreading another boring week at home alone. It’s not the end of the world, my friend. There’s still a way for you to make some quick cash and head off to the beach with a little extra cash in your pockets! You’re always on your phone so why not make some money using it? Download one of my top 5 selling apps and make a little extra money for that trip you’ve been dreaming about.

  1. Poshmark - This app is perfect for all those designer (and not-so designer) labels taking up space in your closet. They also allow beauty items so get rid of those gently used beauty products in your bathroom cabinet. Just snap a couple of pics, upload them, type in a description and selling price and you’re all set! Poshmark does take out a small commission for all sales made so be mindful of that when setting your price. They also customers to make bundles and you can even offer a discount to get rid of your items even faster. Pro tip: take really great pictures to give your customer a good idea of what they’re purchasing.
  2. Vinted - This app is very similar to Poshmark, but it also allows you to sell men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing. They also take out a small percentage of anything you sell so be mindful of that. This is my personal favorite because I can sell all those inexpensive items that wouldn’t get as much attention on Poshmark. Pro tip: they offer three different package sizes, depending on what you’re sending off so make sure you pick the right one when uploading your item to avoid any post office mishaps.
  3. Mercari - This app allows you to sell almost anything and everything you could possibly imagine. Got an old iPhone or iPad? Upload it and sell it off! Items like this always go fast when priced reasonably because people are always losing or breaking theirs. Pro tip: the great thing about Mercari is they don’t charge for listing OR selling. Upload as many items as you want and make that money!
  4. Etsy - Are you really good at arts and crafts? Create a couple listings on Etsy and sell your handmade goods. From jewelry to paintings to monogram stickers, there’s a seller for it. No project or item is too small or too weird; people are always looking for intricate, one-of-a-kind pieces to give as gifts or to set them apart from the next person. Pro tip: offer your customers discount codes on Twitter or Facebook! People love finding a good deal and using coupons.
  5. eBay - If you’re not comfortable using any of the apps mentioned above then eBay is a great way to sell anything! It’s definitely the oldest of the five and has great seller protection so you don’t get scammed. You can sell anything from clothes and shoes to cars, but be wary of not completing transactions on eBay as they cannot protect you from getting cheated.

So what are you waiting for #bossbabe? Get off the couch and start gathering all the clothing, makeup, shoes, electronics, junk you no longer use and upload it on one of these apps! Take great pictures, offer good prices and discounts, deliver exceptional customer service and watch the cash roll in! Thank me after you’re back from your amazing Spring Break trip and shaking the sand out of your shoes.
