It's the start of a new year and that also means it's peak cold and flu season. As parents we do all we can to prevent our little ones from getting sick, but sometimes those pesky germs get the best of us. McKenna and I have already gone through one cold this season and everything on this list made it an easy experience. This year I've got you covered with the top 5 items you need to get through your first cold with a toddler and every one after!

I love this Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer for those moments when my toddler just won't stop wiggling around. It's super fast and links up to your phone for tracking symptoms. It is the perfect upgrade from your basic baby thermometer because it can also give advice and send symptoms to your doctor.

We use this Crane Drop Humidifier every night, but it is clutch during cold and flu season. Not only does it look good, but the cool mist increases the moisture in the air making it easier for my toddler (and I) to breathe while sleeping. Be sure to keep it clean and it will be a must-have for years to come.

After trying to use those bulb syringes during McKenna's first cold, I upgraded to a FridaBaby NoseFrida. I talked about this a bit in my Baby Items I Said I Would Never Buy (And Now I Can't Live Without Them!) post and it is still my #1 must-have for colds. It is the best snot removing tool for parents whose little ones still can't blow their own noses yet. It also goes hand-in-hand with the next item on this list which is...

Little Remedies Saline Drops or Mist. This stuff works wonders for flushing out excess mucus without any harsh chemicals or alcohol. It also makes the whole process of removing mucus much easier if used before the NoseFrida.

Last, but not least, are the most amazing wipes for runny noses; Boogie Wipes are made with natural saline and made to be gentler on sensitive noses. I always keep a pack of these in my diaper bag because there is nothing worse when you're out and about than a raw nose full of boogers.

Of course, nothing can beat your hugs and kisses when your little one is feeling under the weather. So shower them with love and they'll be healthy in no time! Tell me your favorite items for cold and flu season in the comments below.
