Wishlist Wednesday: Sneaker Edition

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

If I could pick one shoe to wear everyday for the rest of my life, it would be a pair of sneakers. They're super comfortable and, with the "athleisure" trend that's going on now, appropriate for more than just going to the gym! My trusty Roshe Run One's have been my go-to shoes lately, but now I'm looking for a new pair to fill the void in my sneaker heart. From slip-on skate shoes to workout essentials, these are the shoes that I need to jump into my closet...like right now!

4 Lessons I Learned from Doing Yoga

Monday, February 22, 2016

Back in my "younger" days I loved to play sports - basketball, soccer, football, softball, kickball, you name it and I played it. I didn't think of it as a way to stay in shape: it was just fun! As I got older sports were replaced with school and school got replaced by work. Work can be stressful so I knew I wanted to find a workout that just made me feel at peace again. I briefly remembered a blog post I read a while ago about YouTube exercise videos and decided to give those a try. I've always wanted to try yoga so I searched and came across Yoga with Adriene. I'll be honest and say that her videos have MILLIONS of views and that's why I chose her over anybody else. I mean, if you have 5 million views on just one video you must be doing something right, right? I've only been practicing yoga for a month now, but here's 4 things I've learned from doing so!

6 Trends to Try for Spring 2016

Friday, February 19, 2016

It's February and that means spring is (hopefully) right around the corner! With the change in seasons comes a change in wardrobe: time to put away the heavy duty sweaters and pull out that off the shoulder top you just bought! Ditch the plaid for florals! Throw out navy and flannel for white and lacy! I've got 6 trends featuring these items and more that are sure to put you in the mood for spring fashion. Some are no-brainers and others might take you a bit out of your comfort zone.

Save vs Splurge: Mini Leather Satchels

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

I don't know about you guys, but I am OBSESSED with the mini versions of popular handbags! The mini Hamilton from Michael Kors was my first love and the "Mini Pashli" from 3.1 Phillip Lim is my current favorite. The miniature version of Phillip Lim's signature satchel is just as gorgeous as the medium and large versions for a fraction of the price. For an even smaller fraction of those prices this nearly identical buckled faux leather crossbody from Forever 21 is a great option. The colors of both bags is perfect for those chic minimalist, all white looks we'll all be wearing this spring. Keep reading to check out the pros and cons of both bags and decide if you'll save or splurge!

Winter White

Friday, February 12, 2016

As most of you are well aware, Virginia was hit pretty hard last month with a blizzard. I don't know the exact amount, but it was at least a couple of feet! I'd never seen so much snow in my life (maybe a slight exaggeration) so of course I had to go out and play in it. There's nothing I love more than fresh, untouched snow; it just evokes a feeling of peace and calmness. We had another mini blizzard a few days ago so I had another chance to go play in the snow and feel like a kid again.

Valentia Ultimate Skin Repair & Hydration Combo Review

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Valentia is a cruelty-free, natural, and organic skin care company dedicated to products that are free of toxins and parabens.  If you remember from my 16 for 2016 list one of my goals was to use more natural or organic products for my hair and body so naturally I jumped at the chance to work with Valentia because of their natural approach to skin care. I was given the chance to review their True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask.

We're Going to the Chapel

Monday, February 8, 2016

And we're gonna get married! No, I'm not getting married (yet), but the location for this shoot just makes me want to sing that song! There is the cutest little church about a block from my house and I love walking past it when I feel the need to stretch my legs and get out of the house. Enough about that and more about what influenced this outfit - Valentine's Day which is Sunday! Valentine's is a super casual holiday for me and I usually end up wearing jeans and a sweater. It was fun to get all dolled up for this shoot and I'm actually looking forward to going out this year.

February Blogging Goals

Friday, February 5, 2016

I can't believe the first month of the year is already over and it's almost Valentine's Day. Where has the time gone?! January was good to me so I'm a little bummed to see it go, but I'm just as excited for February (it's my birthday month!!). Last month I set 5 blogging goals that I wanted to accomplish. I managed to cross a few off my list, but others kinda got away from me. Keep reading to see which ones I knocked out of the park and which ones I need to keep working on!

Currently February

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

sending: Out positive vibes. I'm a firm believer in speaking things into existence so no more negative statements!

eating: Birthday cake ice cream since it's my birthday! I don't like cake (unless it's cheesecake or ice cream cake) so I'm celebrating with a couple of scoops today.

dreaming: Of spring weather. I normally love winter, but I'm over it now. I can't wait to be able to ditch the layers and leave the house in just a shirt and jeans.

smelling: A vanilla mousse candle I got from Target. Vanilla is my all-time favorite scent!

hearting: Yoga! I've started following along with Yoga with Adriene's videos on YouTube and I love it. I find it so relaxing and I even plan on writing about it for the blog so keep checking back for that.

What are you sending, eating, dreaming, smelling, and hearting this month? Let me know in the comments below! Or if you're participating in the Currently Link up, leave your links and I'll definitely check them out. Have a great Wednesday!

Essential Winter Boots

Monday, February 1, 2016

Even if you don't live on the East Coast, you probably heard it was slammed with snow recently. It's become a running joke that some of the more Southern states are ill-prepared for the weather. We don't have a barrage of snow plows ready to go or crews sitting in wait to salt everything. It's no surprise that at the slightest hint of winter weather, classes are cancelled, businesses shut down, and roads are closed.

Now, one person can't control how prepared their city is, but you can certainly control how prepared you are for the weather. I'm not talking about what tools are in your garage; I'm talking about what clothes are in your closet. Above all else, you're going to need a few pairs of amazing boots when the temperature dips. Stepping in a puddle of frozen slush while wearing ballet flats is a mistake you only make once, and there's no better time to do some online shopping than when you're stuck inside and snowed in for the weekend. What better inspiration do you need to perfect your winter wardrobe?
