If you look in my closet you’ll see a multitude of patterns, but stripes rule them all! I already own a striped sweater dress from Forever 21 (last seen here) and it’s one of my favorite outfit starters. With all the rich colors in my latest sweater dress purchase, all I need is a pair of booties, tights, vest, and jewelry and I’m ready for anything!

This is outfit #1 (of 3) featuring an item from my Le Tote box I mentioned on Instagram. If you don’t know, Le Tote is a clothing subscription box that allows you to try different items in the comfort of your own home. You wear each item as long as you want then keep what you love and send back what you don’t! I’ll be posting a full review on the blog soon, but for now let’s get into this look!

My first holiday outfit series was filled with comfy outfit inspiration for Thanksgiving. This year I’m sharing dressier looks because this is the time of year when those holiday party invitations start rolling in. Of course I’m going to RSVP ‘yes’ to all of them because who doesn’t love a good reason to dress up! My must-have item for amazing holiday party outfits? A jumpsuit: they don’t require tights (I really hate wearing them), they are completely unexpected, and just plain cool!

Seeing Stripes

Monday, September 5, 2016

If there's one thing every girl needs in her closet, it's a striped dress. It doesn't matter what color or cut, these babies are so versatile that you'll want to wear them everyday. You can pair them with sneakers, sandals, boots, cardigans, the list goes on and on! I promise you having a couple of these in your wardrobe arsenal will make getting dressed in the morning so much easier. Today I'm styling this striped dress with a few of my new favorite items for transitioning weather and fall.

A fashion post of the 5 types of shoes that should be in your closet for summer '16 featuring athletic slides, laser cut wedges, espadrilles, embellished footwear, and basics.

Even though it's rained for 3 weeks straight here in RVA, I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather that's headed our way. I love my Hunter boots and duck boots, but I think it's time to retire them and slip into something a little more comfortable. Sandals and flats are one of my favorite parts of spring and summer fashion - there's always so many to choose from! This season I am definitely looking to invest in a few more pairs. I'm really digging the athletic slides, laser cut wedges, espadrilles, tassel and pom pom embellished footwear and simple closet staple sandals. Keep reading to see the 5 types of shoes you need in your closet this summer!

Giving the Cold Shoulder

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

I never thought I would be a huge fan of the super popular cold shoulder/off shoulder trend for myself. I always felt that it looked amazing on other people and I applauded their courage for wearing it. That was until this beautiful blush number came into my life. This cute little cold shoulder dress from ASOS is my new go-to for when I need to leave the house in a hurry. I told you guys in my latest Currently post that I was beyond obsessed with one of the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year - Rose Quartz. I don't know what it is about this color, but I am loving it!

A spring fashion post featuring an off shoulder dress from ASOS, tassel lace-up flats from Sam & Libby, and bucket bag from Forever 21.

Save vs Splurge: Mini Leather Satchels

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

I don't know about you guys, but I am OBSESSED with the mini versions of popular handbags! The mini Hamilton from Michael Kors was my first love and the "Mini Pashli" from 3.1 Phillip Lim is my current favorite. The miniature version of Phillip Lim's signature satchel is just as gorgeous as the medium and large versions for a fraction of the price. For an even smaller fraction of those prices this nearly identical buckled faux leather crossbody from Forever 21 is a great option. The colors of both bags is perfect for those chic minimalist, all white looks we'll all be wearing this spring. Keep reading to check out the pros and cons of both bags and decide if you'll save or splurge!

Winter Warm Christmas

To mimic everybody's thoughts from the last week: how crazy is this weather?! It was a balmy 70 degrees every day last week and Christmas almost didn't feel like Christmas with this heat. Despite the weather  I was able to spend some well needed quality time with my family in beautiful Williamsburg. If you ever get the chance to visit Williamsburg, Virginia, I highly suggest you do; I always have so much fun whenever I go!

Leopard Loafers

Sunday, October 11, 2015

Sundays are usually reserved for Truly My Way blogging posts, but I wanted to share something different with you guys today. I was a little under the weather for most of last week and didn't feel like doing anything even content planning! I feel a lot better now and I have so much in store for the blog in the upcoming week/months. I can't wait to share all my ideas with you guys! Now on to this amazing outfit I wore for a lunch date with my boyfriend.

Sweater Forever 21 | Vest Fashion Forward Boutique | Jeggings Target | Loafers Candies
I love the colors in this outfit! Burgundy (maroon, marsala, whatever you want to call it!) is one of my new favorite colors for fall. I think it goes perfectly with my leopard loafers! These are a different twist on the basic leopard flats that everybody wears during this time of year. They're a great dressier alternative to wearing boots and they still keep my feet nice and warm. How do you put your own personal spin on this season's hottest trends? Leave your answers or links in the comments below!

Daytime Rocksbox Look

Saturday, September 19, 2015

T-shirt dresses have been my favorite item this past summer. I searched everywhere for the perfect one and lucked out with this gem from Forever 21. It's unbelievably soft and can be paired with soooo many things! For this outfit I put on my trusty Roshe Runs and tied a chambray shirt around my waist for a laid back look. This look also features two of the items I received in my latest Rocksbox. I'm head over heels for these Kendra Scott drusy earrings and the Jill Michael bracelet isn't half bad. Check back next week for my night look featuring the last piece of my Rocksbox! I'm afraid I'll have to retire this amazing shirt dress until next spring. There's a chill in the air which means fall is really around the corner! What's your favorite part of summer that you're going to miss this fall? Tell me in the comments below!

I recently bought a new (to me) camera - a Nikon D3000. I am super excited about having a DSLR again. I love my Nikon J1, but it feels too much like a point and shoot at times. Anyways, this is what I wore on my first outing with my new camera. Even though it's September (and rainy on this day) and the temps are still in the high 80s/low 90s I couldn't resist adding a fall staple to my outfit. This flannel is one of my most worn pieces when the temperature drops and the leaves start changing. I paired it with a pair of destroyed denim shorts and my trusty Converse. Of course the outfit wouldn't be complete without pearl earrings and necklace! If you would like to see some of my old photography, check out my Flickr! I plan on using it more so check back often!

Autumn Essentials

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

1. Kate Spade beanie // 2. Forever 21 Rhinestone necklace // 3. MAC lipstick "Ruby Woo"
4. Deborah Lippman "Harem Silk" // 5. Uniqlo flannel shirt // 6. J. Crew Factory quilted puffer vest
7. Lucky Brand riding boots // 8. J Brand skinny jeans // 9. Sam Edelman leopard flats // 10 . Sperry Saltwater duck boots
  1. A cute beanie - I love the bow on this one from Kate Spade. These can be lifesavers on the days when you don't want to bother with your hair! You can buy these from anywhere, but I love to get mine from Forever 21 and Target.
  2. A crystal statement necklace - These look so polished when layered over denim or flannel shirts. They add instant shine to any outfit.
  3. A dark red lipstick - An outfit is never complete without lipstick, right? I love fall because deep reds, maroons, and burgundys are in season. This shade from MAC adds a pop of color to any outfit. I also love the matte lip pencils from NARS.
  4. A dark nail polish - In the summer white and bright shades of coral and pink reign supreme. Darker nail polishes in shades of emerald, marsala and navy feel more appropriate in the colder months. I love this one from Deborah Lippman, but Essie also has more affordable options.
  5. A flannel shirt - These are an essential for the obvious reason of warmth, but they're so versatile! They can be layered under puffer vests, sweaters, sweatshirts, tied around your waist, the list goes on and on! You can find these for a steal at Target or Forever 21, but if you want to invest I suggest checking out Madewell.
  6. Puffer vests - These are also on the list for obvious reasons, but they can be worn with soooo many things! I can't wait to layer mine over chambray shirts and sweaters. I personally think J. Crew has the best vests, but Old Navy offers them at a more affordable price point.
  7. Riding boots - Another Fall staple is the riding boot. They keep your feet and legs nice and cozy when it gets chilly out. Frye and Tory Burch offer plenty of options if you're looking for a long-term investment. More affordable options can be found at Target or JustFab!
  8. Wine-colored skinnies - A solid pair of denim skinnies should already be in your closet, but ruby shades of this staple stand out more in the Fall. Any jewel tone jean is great for the season, but Marsala is the color of the year. Why not embrace it? A good pair can come from American Eagle or Joe's Jeans.
  9. Leopard flats - These can be worn with almost everything on the list! They look so good paired with a dark pair of denim skinnies and a sweater. These are a dressier option when boots won't cut it.
  10. Duck boots - These are a heavy duty option for colder, rainy days. I love the way they look with a flannel, puffer vest, thick wool socks and denim skinnies! I love this option from Sperry (they come in tons of other colors, too!) and they can be found at LL Bean, too.

Straight Outta...

Saturday, August 29, 2015

Raiders Tee  | Gray Skirt  | Jordan XII Low | Gold Necklace

You probably can't tell from my previous posts but I LOVE sneakers. New Balance, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, I love them all! This look was 100% inspired by the movie "Straight Outta Compton." Its a bio-pic about the hip hop group NWA. Throughout the 90s they could always be seen wearing black and grey with gold chains and they always repped their hometown by wearing Raiders or LA Kings apparel. I haven't seen it yet, but it's definitely on my Must See list! The t-shirt actually belongs to my boyfriend (shhhh!), but he never wears it so I don't feel guilty for borrowing it. What movie are you dying to see? Let me know in the comments below!

Prabal Gurung for Target

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

T-Shirt J. Crew | Shorts Prabal Gurung for Target (Similar) | Sandals Mossimo | Necklace Forever 21 (Similar) | Heels Prabal Gurung for Target (Similar)

I got these floral shorts by Prabal Gurung for a steal on my favorite clothing app, Vinted. It's a lot like Poshmark, but offers more affordable clothing options. For every item I sell, I end up buying 4! I decided to dress the shorts down with a basic black t-shirt and sandals. The necklace might be a little much, but I honestly wear it every chance I get!

I thought it would be fun to dress the outfit up with a pair of bright, neon green heels for a night out. Everything about this outfit screams SUMMER! to me. What do you think?

I hope you're having a good Wednesday!!
