Y'all, I looked in my closet the other day and realized I don't have very many "spring" pieces! My closet jumps straight from winter to summer (much like the weather in Virginia) and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The past couple of years have been some of my favorite years for Pantone’s Color of the Year. 2017 brought us Greenery, a refreshing shade symbolizing new beginnings. My first holiday outfit series was filled with comfy outfit inspiration for Thanksgiving. This year I’m sharing dressier looks because this is the time of year when those holiday party invitations start rolling in. Of course I’m going to RSVP ‘yes’ to all of them because who doesn’t love a good reason to dress up! My must-have item for amazing holiday party outfits? Time for a moment of complete transparency: I hate pumpkin or pumpkin spice anything. In my unpopular opinion, it's completely overrated and, if we're being honest, sweet potato pie > pumpkin pie. I will admit that the only pumpkin spice item I like is this adorable striped top from H&M. This top comes in a few different colors, but I was immediately drawn to this one because this shade of vibrant orange is flat out gorgeous!

It's no secret that fall is my favorite season for fashion. I love everything about it: the colors (Hey there spicy mustard!), the layering (Hello puffer vest, my old friend!), and the new textures (Looking sexy there, velvet!). Lately, I haven't had much of a chance to experiment with my wardrobe since I have been living in my fall "mom uniform." All my moms out there know exactly what I'm talking about: sweat/yoga pants, oversized sweaters, and anything that isn't covered in spit up. On the fall days that I want to look more put together while running errands or taking my daughter to the doctor, I reach for these 4 new mom fall staples.

Florals? For fall? Not entirely groundbreaking, but still pretty unexpected this time of year. With fall comes a whole new pattern and color palette. I'm stepping outside the fall fashion box with this pretty floral frock from Pink Blush Maternity! The muted floral pattern just works perfectly for the transitional time between summer and fall. 

Wintermixing into Spring

March is finally upon us! I really feel like the months of January and February really flew past. I'm actually super glad that we're trucking right along into spring. I feel like I'm always commenting on the weather so I won't say anything about it (I promise!) and just say that spring is one of my favorite seasons (after fall). I love shedding all those winter layers and trying out new trends. It's not fully spring yet so I'm still reaching for my chunky knit sweaters and boots. I love layering my sweaters with flannels and chambray shirts so this Madewell Wintermix cable knit sweater was a win-win for me. I love the transition from sweater to flannel shirt and the layering effect without the bulk.  I've already worn it twice and I received so many compliments on it! The cream and black color combination is a wardrobe staple for me because it can go with soooo many other colors. Keep reading to see what else I wore with this amazing find!

Holiday Outfit Series - Day 1: A Traveling Thanksgiving

Every day this week I'll be sharing outfits inspired by Thanksgiving! Its my first time trying something like this so I'm super excited to share all of my outfit ideas with you. Make sure you check back everyday this week for an outfit suitable for any Thanksgiving activity!

Since I've moved I have to travel about 2 hours to get home for Thanksgiving, which isn't terrible if I leave the night before or super early in the morning. I love to make playlists for the drive and jam out as I zoom down I-95 South. I also love to be comfortable which is why I chose this dress! It's so stretchy and soft and perfect for sitting in a car for long periods of time. It's a little drapey and oversized around the middle, great for stuffing yourself with delicious food and still looking great. If you're worried about it being extra chilly, a cute peacoat and tights would also look great with this. What's your favorite outfit for traveling? Oui to the Scallop Miniskirt

Happy November! The weather has been bipolar (as usual) and it was unseasonably warm on this rainy day. I knew I wanted to wear one of my favorite pieces of clothing from this past summer - the Topshop scallop miniskirt from one of my first outfit posts. I still love the feminine scallop cut on the hem and the stripes add the perfect pop of pattern. I threw on a closet gem - my OUI sweater from Married to the MOB. It's a bit old and the beading could use some work, but I love it! My trusty riding boots were a no-brainer with a pair of matching boot socks/leg warmers (which I'll have a DIY up for soon!). Plaid + Herringbone + Duck Boots

This outfit features two of my favorite combinations for fall - plaid and herringbone. This plaid flannel shirt is one of my autumn staples and I swear I wear it every week! My vest is the infamous J. Crew Factory herringbone vest in black. I previously wore the Steely Gray version in my 50 Shades of Grey outfit post (Please check that out if you haven't already!). I heard rumors J. Crew was bringing this color back for fall and I was super happy to check the site and find it listed. I immediately scooped one up and I've been in love with it ever since. These Sperry Saltwater duck boots were perfect for the rainy weather we've been having lately. They're so warm and comfy and I plan on wearing them all fall/winter long! Coziest Blanket Scarf Ever!

I cannot tell you guys how soft and comfy this blanket scarf is; there are no words. You have to get one for yourself to find out! I purchased mine from Amazon like I mentioned in my Save VS Splurge post on blanket scarves. The price was perfect and with Amazon Prime I was able to get free two-day shipping, just in time for a very chilly weekend here in Virginia. I love the trend of pairing this plaid scarf with a striped item so I pulled out another one of my "borrowed from the boyfriend" pieces - a simple long sleeve crew neck sweater that I cinched with a brown belt. I threw on a pair of fleece lined leggings and my favorite brown riding boots from my What Do You Love About Fall? outfit post and I was ready for an outing with friends. We ended up going to Bar Louie in Short Pump and sitting on the patio and enjoying $5 beer buckets. As the temp dropped I was able to unwrap the scarf from my neck and use it as a shawl. Talk about pulling double duty! I think I just found my new favorite piece of fall clothing, sorry puffer vests!

I got these floral shorts by Prabal Gurung for a steal on my favorite clothing app, Vinted. It's a lot like Poshmark, but offers more affordable clothing options. For every item I sell, I end up buying 4! I decided to dress the shorts down with a basic black t-shirt and sandals. The necklace might be a little much, but I honestly wear it every chance I get!

I thought it would be fun to dress the outfit up with a pair of bright, neon green heels for a night out. Everything about this outfit screams SUMMER! to me. What do you think?
