Truly Yours, A. Turns 1!

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

Today is a very special occasion in my little corner of the Internet: my blog turns 1! Exactly one year ago today, I published my first blog post. It was a Truly My Way post all about my plans for expanding my blog's reach before I even had any. Since then my blog has come a long way: it has evolved into fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blog where I can show my love for shopping, trying out new products, and my random musings. I've had the chance to partner with some amazing brands and meet bloggers who inspire me. One of those bloggers is Stephanie from Drunk on Vogue who shot these gorgeous photos! Not only is she an awesome blogger, but she's a wonderful photographer as well. She picked out this beautiful location which complimented my vacation-ready look perfectly! Keep reading to get all the deets on this look!

Truly Southern Style

Monday, January 18, 2016

If you've been reading my blog since the beginning (or lurking around my outfits tag) you'll know how much I love this Topshop scallop hem miniskirt. I first saw it on A Southern Drawl and I was instantly hooked. I've already styled it for summer here and fall here, so I knew I wanted to style it for winter too. I haven't come up with any ideas on how to style it for spring just yet, but I'll come up with something when the time comes. I'm so glad I bought this skirt when I did as it's become one of the most versatile pieces in my closet; I honestly feel like it works for any occasion and all seasons so I'm definitely getting my money's worth!

An outfit inspiration post featuring Ann Taylor, Topshop and Loren Hope.

This post has two great options for under $100, so you can get the great Aquazzura look without the $600 price tag! Both pairs are from Topshop and feature the sleek look that everyone is going crazy over. Keep reading to see which pair of flats I'm adding to my closet! Hopefully you'll also find a pair you can't live without.

Happy November! The weather has been bipolar (as usual) and it was unseasonably warm on this rainy day. I knew I wanted to wear one of my favorite pieces of clothing from this past summer - the Topshop scallop miniskirt from one of my first outfit posts. I still love the feminine scallop cut on the hem and the stripes add the perfect pop of pattern. I threw on a closet gem - my OUI sweater from Married to the MOB. It's a bit old and the beading could use some work, but I love it! My trusty riding boots were a no-brainer with a pair of matching boot socks/leg warmers (which I'll have a DIY up for soon!). Got an oldie, but goody piece in your closet? Let me know about it in the comments below!

Fall Vest Inspiration

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Fall is officially the time of the vest! Puffer, fur, military, you name it and people have been pulling them out and layering them for the cooler temps. Here's a little vest inspo to help you guys (and myself) out this fall!
Fall vest inspiration featuring puffer, herringbone, fur and military/utility vests.

The infamous herringbone vest. - This vest is a classic and it wouldn't be fall without it! This classic herringbone vest goes with almost anything, but my favorite way to layer it is over a flannel or sweater. Throw on a statement necklace and you're out the door! The most popular version of this vest is from J. Crew Factory. This year they have it in Steely Gray and the more popular Black!

Keep it simple. - These can be layered over so many things - sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeve tees, button ups, the list goes on and on! A basic quilted puffer vest is a great way to add a little extra warmth to an outfit. These can be found at J. Crew, J. Crew Factory and Old Navy (their quilted puffer vests are only $35!).

Add a pop of color! - Take a boring fall outfit and make it fun with a colorful puffer vest. Dress up an all black outfit with a vest in a vibrant shade of pink. There's so many colors to choose from. J. Crew Factory has two amazing shades called Dark Poppy and Neon Coral that are a must-have!

Warm up with fur. - Whether you're a fan of faux fur or the real thing, these vests are a great way to take any outfit from drab to rock star.  They're also super warm and cozy! The Topshop Lea vest is  the season's hottest version of this vest, but I also love this ombre faux fur version by Steve Madden. I've also lumped shearling vests into this category since they feature a version of fur on the inside. I love this faux shearling vest from Nordstrom!

Borrowed from the guys. - Military-inspired or utility vests are a great way to add a little masculinity to any fall ensemble. They come in all shades of olive green and who doesn't love all those pockets? A good one can be hard to find depending on how you want it to look. This military-style utility vest is currently on sale for under $60!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed looking at all the amazing photos of vest outfits on Pinterest! There's so many other vest options I didn't mention including blazer vests, waterfall sweater vests, fleece vests, the list goes on and on. Fall is definitely vest season! I have so many new ideas for ways to wear my vests this season and beyond. What's your favorite vest? Let me know in the comments below!

Sophie Harper Pavé Square Studs in Silver | Perry Street Selina Crystal Necklace | Kendra Scott Elisa Silver Necklace in Platinum Drusy

Here's my styled look featuring all the amazing jewelry I received in my first Rocksbox. I love how the Perry Street necklace dressed up a simple black tee and jean jacket. The Kendra Scott drusy necklace added the perfect amount of sparkle to an otherwise plain outfit. Out of all the pieces the earrings were my favorite and I was able to purchase them for a major steal! If you didn't read my previous post the first 3 readers to use code AMANDABFF884 will get a free month of Rocksbox! Thanks for reading!

Papaya Bow Back Tank (Another cute option) | Topshop Scallop Miniskirt | Aldo Sandals (Similar) | Target Stud Earrings (Similar)

I first saw this skirt on Grace from A Southern Drawl and knew I had to have it in my closet! I love the feminine scallops and the minimalist color scheme of cream and black. From far away the stripes look grey, but they're not. Fun fact: the stripes on this skirt are not solid! They're actually smaller stripes which make this skirt even cuter in my opinion. I ordered a size 12 US (14 UK) and the fit is almost perfect. It's the tiniest bit too big in the waist. I'm talking maybe a few centimeters if that. I only got the 12 because they were out of the 10 (they only have a few sizes left!).

Like Grace, I dediced to pair the skirt with a flirty, pink top. Mine has a cutout and a bow on the back that gives the outfit an even girlier feel. To complete the outfit I pulled out my favorite nude colored sandals from Aldo (they're actually jelly sandals!) and a pair or rose colored stud earrings from Target.

I hope you're all enjoying your Monday!
