Save vs Splurge: Western Booties

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Booties have been a fall staple since I don't know when and there's always a couple pairs that everybody clambers after once the leaves start turning. This year I've noticed that peep toe and western-style booties are on everyone's wishlist (mine included!). I've already scored a pair of amazing peep toe booties and I couldn't wait to find an equally great pair of western booties. I stumbled across a pair of western-style booties from Jeffrey Campbell and instantly fell in love. The color, the detailing, the material - they were everything I had been searching for! I was not in love with the price tag though and I was lucky enough to come across a similar, but less expensive, pair of Mossimo Supply Co. western booties and I feel even more in love. Side-by-side I honestly can't tell which is which! If you're looking to snag a pair of western booties for yourself and can't decide whether you should save or splurge keep reading!

Save vs Splurge: Tasseled Cross Body Bags

Monday, September 12, 2016

The first official day of autumn isn't until September 22nd, but it's never too early to invest in a new handbag for fall! Chloé has some of the best designer bags for this upcoming season. I'm a little obsessed with finding less expensive versions of their amazing bags as seen here. This fall I'm loving their Hudson cross body bags. From the intricate stitching to the still on trend tassel embellishment - this bag has everything you need to stay fashionable this fall! Of course, a bag this pretty comes with a not-so-pretty price tag: depending on the size this bag can cost up to $2300! For this post I am featuring the Chloé "medium" Hudson bag which retails for $2,150! For those of use who cannot afford to dish out that much moola, I've found a less expensive alternative. Keep reading to see if you should save or splurge this fall on a tassel cross body bag!

Save vs Splurge: Brow Bar Sunglasses

Monday, March 14, 2016

Dior So Real sunglasses, Dior So Real dupe, Dior So Real dupes, GoJane Style Blogger Vintage sunglasses, GoJane Style Blogger sunglasses | A shopping comparison post featuring Dior "Dior So Real" sunglasses and GoJane "Style Blogger Vintage" sunglasses.
Dior So Real sunglasses, Dior So Real dupes, Dior So Real dupe, Dior So Real look a likes, sunglasses similar to Dior So Real | A shopping comparison post featuring Dior "Dior So Real" sunglasses and GoJane "Style Blogger Vintage" sunglasses.

Let's be honest: what fashion blogger hasn't been eyeing the Dior So Real sunglasses? They've been worn by Jill-of-all-trades Olivia Palermo and blogger Chiara Ferrigni They're futuristic, minimalist, sleek, and downright cool. The only uncool thing about them is the price! After scouring Google for a while I found very similar pairs from several different sites. There are so many great Dior So Real sunglasses dupes out there, but the pair I liked best (AKA had the best price) was from GoJane. The Style Blogger Vintage Sunglasses are an exact dupe for the Dior So Real sunglasses! The price difference was unbelievable and I couldn't believe how similar they looked. I'm so excited to share this Save vs Splurge with you guys today so keep reading to see which pair I'm picking up for this season!

Save vs Splurge: Mini Leather Satchels

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

I don't know about you guys, but I am OBSESSED with the mini versions of popular handbags! The mini Hamilton from Michael Kors was my first love and the "Mini Pashli" from 3.1 Phillip Lim is my current favorite. The miniature version of Phillip Lim's signature satchel is just as gorgeous as the medium and large versions for a fraction of the price. For an even smaller fraction of those prices this nearly identical buckled faux leather crossbody from Forever 21 is a great option. The colors of both bags is perfect for those chic minimalist, all white looks we'll all be wearing this spring. Keep reading to check out the pros and cons of both bags and decide if you'll save or splurge!

Save vs Splurge - Studded Pumps

Friday, January 22, 2016

I don't know exactly when the studded pumps/sandals/flats trended started, but I'm sure glad it did! I had a pair of studded flats years ago and they were my very favorite pair of shoes (that weren't sneakers). I would love to find another pair of shoes like those, but I'll settle for a pair of classy yet edgy pumps instead. When it comes to studded pumps you can either go big or go small, but just as amazing. The "big" version is from Valentino and it's called the Rockstud pointy toe pump. These shoes are gorgeous, but they do carry a pretty hefty price tag! The "small" version (for this comparison) is from Sole Society and their version is called the Tiia. Keep reading to see how they stack up and who I declared the winner!

Save vs Splurge - Leopard Clutches

A save vs splurge post comparing leopard foldover clutches from Clare V and Sole Society.
A save vs splurge post comparing leopard foldover clutches from Clare V and Sole Society.

The leopard foldover clutch: everybody has one and if you don't, then you're on the hunt for one. I remember the first time I saw this gorgeous bag featured in another blogger's outfit post. I thought it was the most amazing bag I'd ever seen in my entire life and I HAD TO HAVE IT. I quickly clicked on the link, like most people, and was taken aback at the price. The most popular leopard clutch is from Clare Vivier and retails for a lofty $275! As I do with most items I searched for a cheaper, but still stylish, alternative. Luckily, I stumbled across this printed leopard fold over clutch from Sole Society. Continue reading to see the pros and cons of both bags and decide if you'll save or splurge!

Save vs Splurge - Topshop Pointy Toe Flats

Saturday, December 12, 2015

Pointy toe flats are all over Instagram right now! Every fashion blogger has a pair so naturally you want a pair, but you don't want to break the bank. Look no further, my friend. This post has two great options for under $100, so you can get the great Aquazzura look without the $600 price tag! Both pairs are from Topshop and feature the sleek look that everyone is going crazy over. Keep reading to see which pair of flats I'm adding to my closet! Hopefully you'll also find a pair you can't live without.

Save vs Splurge - Duck Boots

Saturday, November 28, 2015

A save vs splurge comparison post featuring duck boots from Sperry Topsider and Steven Madden.
This week's Save vs Splurge is all about those duck boots you're seeing all over Instagram and Pinterest. They're a great alternative to the LL Bean boots that are always backordered around this time of year. They're also the perfect boot for rain or snow because of their durable materials. I own a pair from Sperry Top-Sider and I love them for rainy days and I can't wait to wear them when the snow hits the ground. I'll be comparing a pair from Sperry Top-Sider with a pair from Steve Madden. Keep reading to see if my favorite boots hold up against the competition!

Save vs Splurge - Puffer Vests

Sunday, November 15, 2015

Save vs Splurge - Puffer Vests | Truly Yours, A. | A save vs splurge comparison post for puffer vests featuring an option from J. Crew Factory and one from Old Navy.

This week's Save vs Splurge is all about puffer vests! They provide just the right amount of extra warmth when you don't want to wear a jacket or coat. I love layering them over flannels, sweatshirts and long sleeve tees when I can't be bothered to decide on outerwear. I'll be comparing two great options, one from J. Crew Factory and the other from Old Navy. Keep reading to see my top pick!

Save vs Splurge - Chloé "Drew" Crossbody Bag

Sunday, November 8, 2015

It's been a while since my first Save vs Splurge post, but I honestly couldn't think about what to compare next! There were great suggestions on the last comparison and I have a few more lined up for this month so keep an eye out for those. Today's post came to mind the other day and my first thought was "Duh!" It's all about the gorgeous Chloé "Drew" crossbody bag, which retails for $1,850! This bag is amazing, but not everybody can afford the real deal. Keep reading to see whether you should save or splurge!

Save vs Splurge - Blanket Scarves

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Even though temps are still pretty high for fall, blanket scarves have been popping up on the Instas of my favorite style bloggers. I'm particularly in love with this plaid version seen on A Southern Drawl and With Style and a Little Grace. These fabulous ladies own the same scarf, but from two totally different sources. Grace, from A Southern Drawl, copped hers from ASOS and Gracie, from With Style and a Little Grace, linked hers from a seller on Amazon.

The specs:

Fabric: 100% Acrylic                                                                                    Fabric: 100% Acrylic
Size: 55 inches x 55 inches                                                                     Size: 59 inches x 59 inches
Checkered design                                                                                          Checkered design
Oversized styling                                                                                          Oversized styling
Frayed ends                                                                                                   Frayed ends

The verdict: To me, these scarves are identical in every way. The only difference is the price: $16.99 vs $33. I honestly see no reason to pay nearly double for an identical item so my pick is easily the Amazon version. I always end up misplacing or ruining my scarves so I'd rather not pay as much for it. I can't wait for this baby to come in the mail! What are some other items you guys would like me to compare? I'm thinking boots or leather totes next. Leave your answers in the comments below!
