If you look in my closet you’ll see a multitude of patterns, but stripes rule them all! I already own a striped sweater dress from Forever 21 (last seen here) and it’s one of my favorite outfit starters. With all the rich colors in my latest sweater dress purchase, all I need is a pair of booties, tights, vest, and jewelry and I’m ready for anything!

Engagement Rings with Anjolee

*This post is sponsored by Anjolee. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Looking for a unique engagement ring that nobody else has? Try Anjolee! They offer fully customizable options for engagement rings such as metal type, gemstone quality, and size. The ring also comes in a lit keepsake box for those nighttime proposals! I decided to try their Blissful Princess Engagement Ring and I love it!

I have something I have to tell you guys...I have a wedding-themed Pinterest board. It's called Let's Get Married after that Jagged Edge song (really, really showing my age here) and it's filled with inspiration for tablescapes, flowers, and checklists for the big day. I don't normally obsess over it, but after I received this gorgeous engagement ring from Anjolee I couldn't stop adding things to it. If you follow me on Snapchat (trulyyoursa) you may have already seen a sneak peek of this ring and the amazing box that it comes in - it has a light inside for those intimate, nighttime proposals! Keep reading for an up close look at the ring I received from Anjolee!

Winter White

Friday, February 12, 2016

As most of you are well aware, Virginia was hit pretty hard last month with a blizzard. I don't know the exact amount, but it was at least a couple of feet! I'd never seen so much snow in my life (maybe a slight exaggeration) so of course I had to go out and play in it. There's nothing I love more than fresh, untouched snow; it just evokes a feeling of peace and calmness. We had another mini blizzard a few days ago so I had another chance to go play in the snow and feel like a kid again.

Canal Walk Comfort

Monday, January 25, 2016

One of my goals for 2016 was to explore one new place in Richmond a month. This month's location is the Canal Walk in the downtown area. It's super close to Belle Isle, which I love, so I couldn't believe I hadn't poked around this area before. It was nice to just take my time walking and reading all of the interesting signs all over the place. I would love to revisit the area when it's a little warmer outside and walk around a bit more.I took quite a few pictures to document the trip which you can find on my Flickr. If you're more interested in what I wore to keep warm on this freezing trip then keep reading!

Fun with Flannel

Friday, December 11, 2015

An fall/winter outfit inspiration post featuring a plaid flannel shirt, J. Crew Factory vest, and boots.

Who doesn't love a good, comfy flannel this time of year? I know I do! These babies are so versatile - you can wear them under a vest, sweater, or dress for additional warmth or tied around your waist as an edgy, yet functional accessory. My tip for buying flannels: check out the men's section! The buffalo check flannel I wore in my Edgy Friendsgiving look came from the men's department of H&M. They ran out of my size and I was lucky enough to spot it as I was browsing. It was even cheaper than the women's version! Keep reading to see where I found this awesome flannel shirt!

On the Hunt

Thursday, December 3, 2015

An outfit inspiration post featuring a J. Crew Factory herringbone vest, J. Crew shirt, and tall navy Hunter boots.

Navy and grey has to be one of my most favorite color combinations ever. The colors go with almost anything, why not combine them? I wore a similar color scheme in my 50 Shades of Grey outfit post, which also featured this J. Crew Factory herringbone vest! My top is an oldie, but goodie from my Fall is Coming post

I wore this outfit for a walk to the library and exploring Randolph-Macon's gorgeous campus with my boyfriend. Can you believe I've lived in this town for a year and hadn't explored the grounds?! I've made a promise to myself to get out and explore the city more in the New Year. We walked along fraternity row and admired the houses we thought only existed in movies and TV shows. I can't wait to explore more of the campus in the upcoming months. The school has an amazing Southern feel about it. It's such a small, intimate campus nothing like my old school. The only thing they have in common is the colors!

My Hunter boots are a Christmas gift to myself that I couldn't resist opening early! I got such a good deal on them during Revolve's Black Friday sale (They ended up being $105!). The weather is calling for rain this week so they came just in time. They're surprisingly comfortable too! Combined with my knee-high socks, they kept my feet nice and warm. I chose to get the matte version of these boots because they seemed like they wouldn't get scratched as easily. Don't get me wrong, I would still love a pair of red gloss Hunters to add a pop of color to any outfit. Thanks for reading and enjoy your Thursday!

This shirt from Fashion Forward Boutique is so soft I could sleep in it. It has the cutest suede-like patches on the elbows that are right on trend. This is my 3rd look this week featuring a vest, but I couldn't resist this beauty from J. Crew Factory. (It was only $58 during their Friends & Family sale!) All the jewelry is from my latest Rocksbox and I'm seriously considering buying all 3 pieces. I love them all that much!

What are you most thankful for this Thanksgiving? Let me know in the comments below! Happy Thursday!

Holiday Outfit Series - Day 2: An Edgy Friendsgiving

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Welcome to Day 2 of the Holiday Outfit Series! Yesterday's post on a Traveling Thanksgiving was all about comfort. Today is about looking like a rockstar while attending a cozy Friendsgiving. I'm so proud of this look because I kinda came up with it at the last minute and I think it looks fabulous. I'm a huge procrastinator and I do my best work under pressure haha.

Last year my friends hosted our first annual Friendsgiving and it was so much fun! It was a potluck and everyone brought a dish and we sat around and talked and played Cards Against Humanity. This year is my turn to host and I'm super excited to have all my friends over for a party. Today's outfit is a bit like my group of friends - edgy, preppy, and stylish! The buffalo plaid and herringbone vest seemed like an easy way to introduce pattern mixing and I decided to keep the bottom simple with all black. I think this outfit would also be nice with a pair Timberland boots and a beanie for a bit of masculine edge. What would you wear to a Friendsgiving party with all your closest pals? Save vs Splurge - Puffer Vests

Sunday, November 15, 2015

Save vs Splurge - Puffer Vests | Truly Yours, A. | A save vs splurge comparison post for puffer vests featuring an option from J. Crew Factory and one from Old Navy.
I've officially deemed Sundays as Save vs Splurge Sundays! That means a new Save vs Splurge post every Sunday PLUS a Truly My Way post!! If you couldn't tell about by the amount of exclamation points I'm super excited about all the new content coming to the blog. In fact, I'll be starting an awesome new series tomorrow so check back then to see what it is!

This week's Save vs Splurge is all about puffer vests! They provide just the right amount of extra warmth when you don't want to wear a jacket or coat. I love layering them over flannels, sweatshirts and long sleeve tees when I can't be bothered to decide on outerwear. I'll be comparing two great options, one from J. Crew Factory and the other from Old Navy. Keep reading to see my top pick!

This outfit features two of my favorite combinations for fall - plaid and herringbone. This plaid flannel shirt is one of my autumn staples and I swear I wear it every week! My vest is the infamous J. Crew Factory herringbone vest in black. I previously wore the Steely Gray version in my 50 Shades of Grey outfit post (Please check that out if you haven't already!). I heard rumors J. Crew was bringing this color back for fall and I was super happy to check the site and find it listed. I immediately scooped one up and I've been in love with it ever since. These Sperry Saltwater duck boots were perfect for the rainy weather we've been having lately. They're so warm and comfy and I plan on wearing them all fall/winter long! Fall Vest Inspiration

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

Fall is officially the time of the vest! Puffer, fur, military, you name it and people have been pulling them out and layering them for the cooler temps. Here's a little vest inspo to help you guys (and myself) out this fall!
Fall vest inspiration featuring puffer, herringbone, fur and military/utility vests.

The infamous herringbone vest. - This vest is a classic and it wouldn't be fall without it! This classic herringbone vest goes with almost anything, but my favorite way to layer it is over a flannel or sweater. Throw on a statement necklace and you're out the door! The most popular version of this vest is from J. Crew Factory. This year they have it in Steely Gray and the more popular Black!

Keep it simple. - These can be layered over so many things - sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeve tees, button ups, the list goes on and on! A basic quilted puffer vest is a great way to add a little extra warmth to an outfit. These can be found at J. Crew, J. Crew Factory and Old Navy (their quilted puffer vests are only $35!).

Add a pop of color! - Take a boring fall outfit and make it fun with a colorful puffer vest. Dress up an all black outfit with a vest in a vibrant shade of pink. There's so many colors to choose from. J. Crew Factory has two amazing shades called Dark Poppy and Neon Coral that are a must-have!

Warm up with fur. - Whether you're a fan of faux fur or the real thing, these vests are a great way to take any outfit from drab to rock star.  They're also super warm and cozy! The Topshop Lea vest is  the season's hottest version of this vest, but I also love this ombre faux fur version by Steve Madden. I've also lumped shearling vests into this category since they feature a version of fur on the inside. I love this faux shearling vest from Nordstrom!

Borrowed from the guys. - Military-inspired or utility vests are a great way to add a little masculinity to any fall ensemble. They come in all shades of olive green and who doesn't love all those pockets? A good one can be hard to find depending on how you want it to look. This military-style utility vest is currently on sale for under $60!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed looking at all the amazing photos of vest outfits on Pinterest! There's so many other vest options I didn't mention including blazer vests, waterfall sweater vests, fleece vests, the list goes on and on. Fall is definitely vest season! I have so many new ideas for ways to wear my vests this season and beyond. What's your favorite vest? Let me know in the comments below!

50 Shades of Grey

Monday, September 28, 2015

Sweater Target | Vest J. Crew Factory | Jeggings Wal-Mart | Boots Target | Ring H&M
I couldn't wait to share my take on a monochromatic look for fall with you guys. I was super excited I was to pull this J. Crew Factory vest out of my closet and pair it with this jeweled sweater. I bought the vest in the dead heat of summer and counted down the days until fall when I could wear it. Same goes for these boots. The color is called black, but the distressing makes them a darker gray color. I love how this outfit came together. I'm starting to trust my intuition when it comes to picking out outfits and finally develop my own personal style.
