5 Breakfast Hacks to Make Mornings Easier

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

I am definitely not a morning person so hitting the snooze button more than once has become a habit I need to break. Waking up later means I don't have time to prepare breakfast for myself and I usually go without it. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and skipping it can also mean throwing off your body's rhythm of fasting and eating. When you wake up, the blood sugar your body needs to make your muscles and brain work their best is usually low. Breakfast helps replenish it. Thanks to these 5 breakfast hacks I can sleep in AND enjoy a healthy, filling breakfast. Keep reading to see what they are and how I stay healthy with easy solutions such as Centrum Vitamints and Gummies!

A fashion post of the 5 types of shoes that should be in your closet for summer '16 featuring athletic slides, laser cut wedges, espadrilles, embellished footwear, and basics.

Even though it's rained for 3 weeks straight here in RVA, I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather that's headed our way. I love my Hunter boots and duck boots, but I think it's time to retire them and slip into something a little more comfortable. Sandals and flats are one of my favorite parts of spring and summer fashion - there's always so many to choose from! This season I am definitely looking to invest in a few more pairs. I'm really digging the athletic slides, laser cut wedges, espadrilles, tassel and pom pom embellished footwear and simple closet staple sandals. Looking for a different twist on date night? Let Walmart Family Mobile and Swedish Fish help you plan a Fish and Flicks movie night at home!

It has been raining for 3 weeks here in Richmond and it's put a real damper on spring date nights in my house. The BF and I get tired of the same old dinner date every week so I recently decided to switch it up with a movie night in the comfort of our own home. One of our first dates (6 years ago!) was to the movies so this feels like the perfect way to pay homage to that. Keep reading to see how I plan the best movie night and keep up wit my favorite blogs with the help of Walmart Family Mobile and Swedish Fish!

A fashion post featuring my first Stitch Fix box including items from Pixley, Market & Spruce, Fun2Fun, Gorjana.

I first heard about Stitch Fix last year from Dream a Little Dream VT's blog and I thought it was the coolest idea! Your own personal stylist handpicks amazing items for you AND they're sent to your home where you can try them on AND you can send back whatever you don't like?! I should have signed up then and there, but I was hesitant because I am super picky about my clothes. Earlier this month I bit the bullet and signed up for my first Fix! It was fun filling out the questionnaire and wondering what pieces my personal stylist would pick for me. I didn't have to wonder long because my first Fix arrived not even a week later! Before I knew what hit me, I ripped open the box and screamed a little inside. Keep reading to see if it was in a bad or good way!

Want stronger, longer natural hair? I've got 4 tips to fortifying your strands with Hask's Bamboo Oil Strengthening collection.

After a long, harsh winter my hair needs a lot of help this spring. I recently straightened my natural hair (after declaring war on direct heat) and I'm not liking the aftermath. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's heat damage, maybe I'm just being paranoid, but my hair doesn't feel the same way anymore. One thing I do know is that my hair was starting to feel limp and lifeless so I was thrilled to get a chance to try Hask's Bamboo Oil Strengthening collection. The line features a Shampoo, Conditioner, Deep Conditioner and Shine Oil, all formulated with ProDefense Complex that penetrates hair to strengthen, reinforce and protect. Bamboo oil, known as one of Asia’s natural treasures, is proven to strengthen hair and deliver essential nutrients that revive weakened and lifeless strands. Combined with biotin and collagen, silicon-rich bamboo oil gives hair a strong foundation, improves flexibility and prevents split ends so damage caused by every day styling is a thing of the past! Giving the Cold Shoulder

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

I never thought I would be a huge fan of the super popular cold shoulder/off shoulder trend for myself. I always felt that it looked amazing on other people and I applauded their courage for wearing it. That was until this beautiful blush number came into my life. This cute little cold shoulder dress from ASOS is my new go-to for when I need to leave the house in a hurry. I told you guys in my latest Currently post that I was beyond obsessed with one of the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year - Rose Quartz. I don't know what it is about this color, but I am loving it!

A spring fashion post featuring an off shoulder dress from ASOS, tassel lace-up flats from Sam & Libby, and bucket bag from Forever 21.

May Goals

Friday, May 6, 2016

A list of blogging and personal goals for the month of May.
I didn't do a goal post for the month of April on the blog because for the past month my main goal has been to focus on what's important and being positive. I can already feel my life changing and I know it'll only continue to get better. I did complete a goal from earlier in the year to collaborate with another blogger! I was fortunate enough to work with Stephanie of Drunk on Vogue on an outfit post for the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year - Rose Quartz and Serenity. It's definitely one of my most favorite posts so check it out when you get a chance! For the month of May I only have 4 goals - 2 blogging goals and 2 personal goals. Keep reading to see what they are!

A Currently link up post for the month of May about what I'm currently celebrating, reading, pondering, sipping, and going!

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it - the month of April flew by! I swear it was just April 9th the last time I checked my calendar. 2016 is going by so fast; it'll be the blog's first birthday before I know it! I'm trying to plan something special for that (it won't be until July) so stay tuned. One of the most consistent posts on my blog is the Currently link up with Jenna of Gold & Bloom and Anne of Anne in Residence. I can't praise these ladies and their link up enough. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of this link up and hope to be for a while. Keep reading to see what I'm currently celebrating, reading, pondering, sipping, and going!

Truly Drunk on Blush & Blue

Monday, May 2, 2016

A fashion collaboration post with Stephanie of Drunk on Vogue featuring the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year - Serenity and Rose Quartz.
When the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year were announced I was a little hesitant to embrace them: the colors just felt very juvenile compared to the previous year's color. I can honestly say that I've had a complete change of heart after seeing these colors everywhere. They've definitely grown on me and I'm loving them both for this season! I feel like spring is the perfect time to wear the 2016 Colors of the Year - Rose Quartz (blush pink) and Serenity (baby blue). Lucky for me Stephanie, from Drunk on Vogue, graciously accepted my request for a collaboration to showcase these gorgeous colors. Stephanie is another RVA blogger and her style is so unique and effortless - I swear she could make a paper bag look amazing! To be completely honest, I'm more in love with Stephanie's outfit than my own! Her beautiful Serenity blue dress is from Mint Julep Boutique, one of my favorite places to shop. They have so many Rose Quartz and Serenity pieces that it's impossible to choose just one.
