The past couple of years have been some of my favorite years for Pantone’s Color of the Year. 2017 brought us Greenery, a refreshing shade symbolizing new beginnings. In 2016 we got a two-for one with the beautiful shades of Rose Quartz (a blush pink) and Serenity (a soft baby blue). This year’s Pantone COTY is Ultra Violet: a vibrant purple that “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points toward the future,” says Pantone.

Fall 2016 Colors of the Year + How to Wear Them

Friday, October 28, 2016

Fall is in full swing and we've finally pulled all the sweaters and boots to the fronts of our closets. Wearing the same shades of cream, olive, and navy can get a bit boring. Luckily, the Pantone Color Institute graced us with their top color picks for Fall 2016 fashion. "The desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism have inspired a Fall 2016 color palette that is led by the Blue family. Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections. Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades. Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic." I don't know about you, but that quote from Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, inspired me to try to incorporate more color into my fall wardrobe. Today on the blog I'm sharing all 10 colors and how you can incorporate them into your existing wardrobe!

Cool Carolina Blue

Friday, August 19, 2016

Off the shoulder tops and dresses have been my favorite things about this summer. I honestly can't get enough and my closet (and wallet!) have been begging for me to stop! I'm really excited to bring this trend into fall and pair it with my favorite jeans and booties. Until then this off shoulder top from H&M will be in (what's left of) my summer rotation. Keep reading to see more of this cool blue outfit!

Giving the Cold Shoulder

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

I never thought I would be a huge fan of the super popular cold shoulder/off shoulder trend for myself. I always felt that it looked amazing on other people and I applauded their courage for wearing it. That was until this beautiful blush number came into my life. This cute little cold shoulder dress from ASOS is my new go-to for when I need to leave the house in a hurry. I told you guys in my latest Currently post that I was beyond obsessed with one of the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year - Rose Quartz. I don't know what it is about this color, but I am loving it!

Truly Drunk on Blush & Blue

Monday, May 2, 2016

A fashion collaboration post with Stephanie of Drunk on Vogue featuring the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year - Serenity and Rose Quartz.
When the 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year were announced I was a little hesitant to embrace them: the colors just felt very juvenile compared to the previous year's color. I can honestly say that I've had a complete change of heart after seeing these colors everywhere. They've definitely grown on me and I'm loving them both for this season! I feel like spring is the perfect time to wear the 2016 Colors of the Year - Rose Quartz (blush pink) and Serenity (baby blue). Lucky for me Stephanie, from Drunk on Vogue, graciously accepted my request for a collaboration to showcase these gorgeous colors. Stephanie is another RVA blogger and her style is so unique and effortless - I swear she could make a paper bag look amazing! To be completely honest, I'm more in love with Stephanie's outfit than my own! Her beautiful Serenity blue dress is from Mint Julep Boutique, one of my favorite places to shop. They have so many Rose Quartz and Serenity pieces that it's impossible to choose just one.
