This post was originally about a new style series I wanted to start on the blog. I had everything written and ready to go for about 2 weeks, but last week I had a change of heart. I love Richmond with all my heart. This city has shown me so many new and amazing things that I can't find back at home. There's always so much to do and even more places to explore.

The past couple of years have been some of my favorite years for Pantone’s Color of the Year. 2017 brought us Greenery, a refreshing shade symbolizing new beginnings. In 2016 we got a two-for one with the beautiful shades of Rose Quartz (a blush pink) and Serenity (a soft baby blue). This year’s Pantone COTY is Ultra Violet: a vibrant purple that “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points toward the future,” says Pantone.

If you look in my closet you’ll see a multitude of patterns, but stripes rule them all! I already own a striped sweater dress from Forever 21 (last seen here) and it’s one of my favorite outfit starters. With all the rich colors in my latest sweater dress purchase, all I need is a pair of booties, tights, vest, and jewelry and I’m ready for anything!

This is outfit #1 (of 3) featuring an item from my Le Tote box I mentioned on Instagram. If you don’t know, Le Tote is a clothing subscription box that allows you to try different items in the comfort of your own home. You wear each item as long as you want then keep what you love and send back what you don’t! I’d you want to try it out and get 50% off your first box sign up here and use code HEARTLT at registration! I’ll be posting a full review on the blog soon, but for now let’s get into this look!

Time for a moment of complete transparency: I hate pumpkin or pumpkin spice anything. In my unpopular opinion, it's completely overrated and, if we're being honest, sweet potato pie > pumpkin pie. I will admit that the only pumpkin spice item I like is this adorable striped top from H&M. This top comes in a few different colors, but I was immediately drawn to this one because this shade of vibrant orange is flat out gorgeous!

It's no secret that fall is my favorite season for fashion. I love everything about it: the colors (Hey there spicy mustard!), the layering (Hello puffer vest, my old friend!), and the new textures (Looking sexy there, velvet!). Lately, I haven't had much of a chance to experiment with my wardrobe since I have been living in my fall "mom uniform." All my moms out there know exactly what I'm talking about: sweat/yoga pants, oversized sweaters, and anything that isn't covered in spit up. On the fall days that I want to look more put together while running errands or taking my daughter to the doctor, I reach for these 4 new mom fall staples.

For as long as I can remember, my mother instilled in me that white was NOT to be work after Labor Day. I never questioned her, but I often wondered why I couldn't wear my favorite white Mary Janes after the summer. Fast forward to 2017 and I am still hesitant to keep this color in my wardrobe once we reach the end of August. However, I made a promise to myself to step outside te box more often when it comes to my style which is why I'm sharing this all white ensemble with you all today!

The 90's and early 2000's brought us amazing music, TV shows, and fashion...what a time to be alive...Lately, I've been on a major 90's kick (my newest Spotify playlist additions are proof of this) so this outfit was a major nod to my childhood. I was only a couple of years old when the 90's rolled around, but that hasn't stopped me from reliving the good old days through my clothes. I've been so inspired by all aspects of 90's post-grunge and R&B fashion so think dark purple lipstick, destroyed denim, flannels, chokers, and lots and lots of black. If I thought I could rock combat boots and a babydoll dress I totally would! On top of showing you guys my take on 90's fashion, I'm sharing my favorite 90's songs from all genres that I've been playing on repeat!

I love pattern mixing because it's a great way to get more wear out of the items in your wardrobe. Fall is such an amazing time to practice pattern mixing with all the layers we wear. I've been asked a couple times "How do you know what patterns go together?" or "How can I incorporate more patterns into my wardrobe?" There is no definitive answer and most times I stumble over my words trying to find the right thing to say. I took a while to gather my thoughts on pattern mixing and I'm sharing my top tips with you today. Continue reading to see how I mix patterns like a pro!

I think we've all had those days where we just feel...blue. We're not really sad, but we know that we don't feel happy. I had a lot of days like this last week due to my depression and most of the time I spend the day curled up in my bed with my Netflix queue. Dealing with depression is not easy and some days are better than others. I've learned that taking care of yourself mentally is such an important part of self care and improving your mental state. I've recently discovered a few ways to combat my "blue days" and make them so much better. Today I'm sharing my personal methods for better days and a cute blue look guaranteed to make any day better!

When I saw this plum floral dress in the window at H&M I knew I had to have it! I loved the print and color so much that I looked online for more pieces that featured it and was met with H&M's fall women's campaign all about reclaiming the word #Ladylike and redefining it. Strong, independent, free-willed, entertaining, opinionated, off-beat, and fearless. Do these words come to mind when you think about the term 'ladylike?' If the answer is yes then you get a cookie! JK, but seriously I think being a combination of these things is pretty close to being #Ladylike.

If there's one thing every girl needs in her closet, it's a striped dress. It doesn't matter what color or cut, these babies are so versatile that you'll want to wear them everyday. You can pair them with sneakers, sandals, boots, cardigans, the list goes on and on! I promise you having a couple of these in your wardrobe arsenal will make getting dressed in the morning so much easier. Today I'm styling this striped dress with a few of my new favorite items for transitioning weather and fall.

Drusy stones are one of my new favorite trends in jewelry (the other is rose gold, but more about that later). These glittering stones are perfect for adding a little sparkle to any outfit without being in-you-face like a diamond. It won't matter what day of the week it is and you'll catch me in a piece of drusy jewelry. I truly haven't met a drusy that I didn't like! Luckily (unlucky for my wallet), my job allows me to indulge in all things shiny and rocky. Today's post is all about combining my current obsessions: drusy jewelry and denim ensembles!

Off the shoulder tops and dresses have been my favorite things about this summer. I honestly can't get enough and my closet (and wallet!) have been begging for me to stop! I'm really excited to bring this trend into fall and pair it with my favorite jeans and booties. Until then this off shoulder top from H&M will be in (what's left of) my summer rotation. Keep reading to see more of this cool blue outfit!

Today is a very special occasion in my little corner of the Internet: my blog turns 1! Exactly one year ago today, I published my first blog post. It was a Truly My Way post all about my plans for expanding my blog's reach before I even had any. Since then my blog has come a long way: it has evolved into fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blog where I can show my love for shopping, trying out new products, and my random musings. I've had the chance to partner with some amazing brands and meet bloggers who inspire me. One of those bloggers is Stephanie from Drunk on Vogue who shot these gorgeous photos! Not only is she an awesome blogger, but she's a wonderful photographer as well. She picked out this beautiful location which complimented my vacation-ready look perfectly! Keep reading to get all the deets on this look!

This summer is all about natural textures and patterns for me: snake print, straw handbags, and now wooden watches! I was recently contacted by the good people at JORD Watches and asked if I would like to try out one of their gorgeous timepieces. I said YES without a second thought and I'm so glad I did! It's definitely a unique watch and conversation starter. A lot of people wonder if it's heavy or made from cheap materials and the answer to both questions is no! It's a light watch so it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a log around on my wrist, but it's made from natural Zebrawood and Maple so it will last and last. Keep reading to see how you can win a voucher towards a JORD wood watch of your very own!

I have something I have to tell you guys...I have a wedding-themed Pinterest board. It's called Let's Get Married after that Jagged Edge song (really, really showing my age here) and it's filled with inspiration for tablescapes, flowers, and checklists for the big day. I don't normally obsess over it, but after I received this gorgeous engagement ring from Anjolee I couldn't stop adding things to it. If you follow me on Snapchat (trulyyoursa) you may have already seen a sneak peek of this ring and the amazing box that it comes in - it has a light inside for those intimate, nighttime proposals! Keep reading for an up close look at the ring I received from Anjolee!

Even though it's rained for 3 weeks straight here in RVA, I'm really looking forward to the warmer weather that's headed our way. I love my Hunter boots and duck boots, but I think it's time to retire them and slip into something a little more comfortable. Sandals and flats are one of my favorite parts of spring and summer fashion - there's always so many to choose from! This season I am definitely looking to invest in a few more pairs. I'm really digging the athletic slides, laser cut wedges, espadrilles, tassel and pom pom embellished footwear and simple closet staple sandals. Keep reading to see the 5 types of shoes you need in your closet this summer!
