Truly Southern Style

Monday, January 18, 2016

If you've been reading my blog since the beginning (or lurking around my outfits tag) you'll know how much I love this Topshop scallop hem miniskirt. I first saw it on A Southern Drawl and I was instantly hooked. I've already styled it for summer here and fall here, so I knew I wanted to style it for winter too. I haven't come up with any ideas on how to style it for spring just yet, but I'll come up with something when the time comes. I'm so glad I bought this skirt when I did as it's become one of the most versatile pieces in my closet; I honestly feel like it works for any occasion and all seasons so I'm definitely getting my money's worth!

A black turtleneck is a winter staple for me and this mock neck sweater from Ann Taylor (also found from A Southern Drawl!) is my new favorite variation on a classic. It normally retails for $119, but I got it for super sale for $24!!! Talk about the deal of the century. I kinda wish I had snagged in all the available colors (it comes in Irish Cream, Nordic Blue, and Blush), but I needed black more than the rest. Currently the black and blush colors are sold out and the other colors are almost sold out; there's only XL left in both so I would rush over and scoop them both up if that's your size. I plan on getting the Irish Cream and I already have an outfit in mind for it! I love how the hem is curved and there's the slightest bit of high-low detail, too. I can't wait to wear this with my favorite J. Crew Factory vest and skinny jeans for a more casual outfit.

I named this post Truly Southern Style because both pieces were inspired by Grace from A Southern Drawl. When I first started thinking about starting a fashion blog hers was one of the first I couldn't stop checking; I seriously loved each one of her outfits and how effortless she looked. I love using other fashion bloggers as inspiration, but not completely copying their styles or ways to wear something. Without Grace I never would have discovered these great items and I hope you find your next favorite clothing piece from this blog!
