Truly My Way - Week 5: Stumbleupon

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Not very many people have heard of StumbleUpon. I hadn't even heard of it until I came across an article on Pinterest by Krystal of Perfect Enough for Us. StumbleUpon is a social media app/website that shows you content based on your interests or likes. The content is new and fresh every time you open the site so it offers you a new experience each time you use it.

Krystal explained how she used this site/app to increase her pageviews. If you read my previous posts then you know that one of my blog goals is to increase my pageviews. I can definitely say StumbleUpon has helped with that. Continue reading to see how I used it!

I don't get to spend a lot of time on my computer promoting my blog so I needed a quick way to impact my pageviews and audience. StumbleUpon is the perfect way to do both of those! Here's a few tips that helped me:

  1. Try to use StumbleUpon everyday. - I'm guilty of not doing this, but whenever I get a spare moment I open up the app and flick through it for new, cool things to read or share. Using StumbleUpon sporadically
  2. Don't just add your own pages. - Whenever I use StumbleUpon I make sure that I add 1 blog post from my page PLUS 4 or 5 pages from other bloggers. I like to share the wealth of pageviews among my favorite bloggers.
  3. Use StumbleUpon correctly! - StumbleUpon also penalizes you for adding just your own new content so I'm sure to spread the wealth by liking or giving a "thumbs up" to other people's content. The rule I borrowed from Krystal is to thumbs up 10 pages then its okay to add 1 of your own.
I can definitely say that StumbleUpon has exponentially increased my pageviews. After I add one of my pages to the site, I get a high (to me, at least) number of pageviews that can stay consistent through the week if I use StumbleUpon correctly. Have any of you guys used StumbleUpon? How have you made it work for you? Leave your comments below!
