1. Start your search early
Depending on when you plan to have your shoot, start searching for the perfect outfit at least a couple months in advance. The reasons for this? Shipping time and you might end up changing your mind about what to wear! Looking for a great place for maternity dresses or cute maternity clothes? Pink Blush has a great selection for all sizes and shapes. I was so surprised at the wide selection of maternity styles and colors they offer. It's no surprise that I chose Pink Blush for this maternity-inspired shoot! Even if you're not pregnant, Pink Blush is a trendy online boutique with lots to choose from.

2. Comfort is key
If you don't feel comfortable, it will show in your photos. Remember no amount of retouching can fix a frown. If form-fitting dresses aren't your thing, go for whatever you feel most comfortable in! I love more rustic shoots where the mom is wearing a simple tee with a cozy cardigan. Luckily, Pink Blush has something for everybody. Whether you want a stunning gown to show off that bump or something more demure, Pink Blush has you covered!

3. Pick a color palette
Planning a romantic evening shoot with your partner? Opt for rich, jewel tones during winter or fall. Spring and summer season shoots are begging for bright pops of color. Pastel blues, pinks, and creams are perfect for year round! For this maternity-inspired shoot I went with this gorgeous maternity dress with a navy, coral, and mint floral print that would be perfect for maternity photo shoots this time of year.

4. Don't be scared to accessorize
Accessories will help you photos stand out from the rest. Flower crowns and statement necklaces, earrings, and rings are the easiest ways to dress up a simple maternity shoot look. Since my dress has a busier print I opted for a pair of complementary tassel earrings from Kendra Scott that don't stand out too much since I wanted the focus to be on the dress. I think they make the perfect statement without being too overwhelming. You'll definitely see these babies on the blog a few more times before summer is over! For belly shots, I went with a chunky statement ring in the same colors!
