Truly My Way - Week 10: Facebook Groups

Sunday, September 20, 2015

Last week was about Instagram and how to create a popular feed. This week was supposed to be about gaining followers on Instagram, but I found myself immersed in Facebook and some amazing blogging groups. It was such a good feeling reading all the comments and concerns from other bloggers who are in the same position as me. Continue reading to see what I've learned this week!

When I started my blog I dreaded using Facebook to promote it so I created a second page dedicated just to expanding my blog's reach. A great way of doing that has been joining blogging Facebook groups. My favorites have been The Peony Project, Blog + Biz BFFs, and Show Your Blog Love. I'll go into detail about what I like about each.

  • The Peony Project - "This group is a space for women who love Jesus, love blogging, and love community." This group is full of the most supportive troop of women and everyone is so nice. I haven't made any connections yet, but I have come across a lot of great blogs and bloggers. This is a closed group so membership to The Peony Project may be required.
  • Blog + Biz BFFs - "A hub for bloggers and online entrepreneurs to lend support, give feedback, and share advice." This group was started by Melyssa of The Nectar Collective and it's full of people from all walks of life. Most of the bloggers, in my opinion, seem to be a bit more established than I am. It's still inspiring to see everybody coming together to answer questions, offer suggestions, and support each other.
  • Show Your Blog Love - "If you're a blogger, writer, or social media Influencer this support group is for you! Consider this like a fun place to meet other bloggers daily, share your blog posts in our daily threads and gain/share knowledge on blogging and creative resources." This group is great for promoting your blog, pins, tweets, Instas, whatever! They have daily threads that allow you to post your links and get likes, RTs, comments, or anything for your blog. There are rules that have to be followed, but I like this group the most so far.
These groups are a great starting place if you're looking for ways to put yourself and your blog out there. I'm so glad I gave Facebook a try and can't wait to see more benefits from using it. I'm still figuring out the whole Facebook Page thing, but here's a link if anyone wants to stop by. Have a good week everybody!
