One of my favorite quotes is by F. Scott Fitzgerald, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” So much changes during this time of year: the weather, the foliage. So why shouldn’t your look? Today I’ve partnered with Schwarzkopf to share my top tips for giving your wardrobe, makeup, and hair a refresh for fall! I’m also sharing how I gave myself a mini makeover for the season.
Easy ways to makeover your wardrobe
- Go shopping with a friend and try out new styles.
- If you wear glasses, invest in a stylish new pair.

- Head to a makeup counter and ask for a makeover. Pay close attention and buy a couple products you don’t have. Shop drugstore brands if money is an issue.
Easy ways to makeover your hair
- Visit your stylist with tons of pictures. Let them know how much time you would like to ideally spend on your hair. Show them how much hair to cut, if any, to avoid any mishaps.
- If you’re not comfortable with a stylist doing your hair *raises hand*, color your hair at home! If you have dark hair, try going a shade or 2 lighter. If you have light hair, try highlights.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated my look so I took my own advice and changed up my hair color! I went to my local Walmart and picked up a couple boxes (my hair is very thick) of Schwarzkopf Color Ultime in the hair care section. This hair color defies fading for up to 9 weeks of color shine! With so many vibrant, fashion shades it was hard to pick just one! I finally decided on Flaming Reds Mahogany Red 4.2 because I think it’s the perfect shade of deep burgundy for fall.
Schwarzkopf made it so easy to achieve a “true to box” color on my hair. I started by putting on the gloves and adding the Color Creme to the Applicator Bottle. I shook it until it was well blended which only took a couple of minutes. I parted my hair in 4 sections, threw on an old t-shirt, and I was ready to apply the color!
As you can see in the before picture my hair is a very dark brown so I was anxious to see how my hair would take to the color. I applied the color along my middle part and saturated the hair for about two inches. I made a part with the Applicator Bottle and moved onto the next section. I did this all over my head and let it sit for about 20 minutes. I applied the remaining color to the length of my hair and let it sit for 5 minutes after making sure every strand was coated in the hair color. My hair is naturally curly so it did revert back to its natural state during the coloring process. All that was left to do was hop in the shower to rinse, shampoo, condition, and rinse with cool water and I was all done!

After I put a few finishing touches on my hair it was incredibly shiny and the color was gorgeous. Even after a week of washes the color was still just as vibrant as the first day!
I typically dye my hair black during the summer, but it was refreshing to try a new color for a new season.
