My Simple Stay-At-Home Mom Blogging Schedule

Friday, August 9, 2019

I never knew how hard it was to be a stay-at-home (SAHM) mom until I became one! I feel like my day is one activity after another with a few small breaks in between (thank God for naptime and Sesame Street!). This makes it pretty difficult to work on my blog and social media, but I think I've got it figured out now. Keep reading for my super simple and easy SAHM blogging schedule!

When McKenna was around two or three months old, she would only take 30-45 minute naps and I felt like I couldn't everything done what I wanted to. She just turned 2 so she's more independent and actually enjoys doing stuff by herself. I still spend a huge chunk of my day catering to her, but I don't mind because I have a secret weapon. My biggest tool is task batching. Task batching when blogging is no secret, but it took personally took me a while to take advantage of it. Here's my task batching schedule:
  • Tuesday - writing all my posts
  • Wednesday - taking all my photos (I'll sometimes switch this to Tuesday since I like to have photos taken before starting to write, in some instances)
  • Thursday - draft and schedule social media posts (Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook)
  • Mondays/Fridays - promoting blog posts

Using social media schedulers to post for me have also been a lifesaver. My latest go-to's are:
  • Tailwind (referral link) for Pinterest - I've definitely seen growth on Pinterest since I started using this. You can also use it for Instagram, which I may start trying soon.
  • Bettr - This scheduling app for Instagram is awesome for finding out the best times to post and actually posting for you. However, I am currently looking for another app to use since their customer service is nonexistent.
  • Planoly - Another Instagram scheduler that's pretty easy to use.

Batching tasks and setting up my social media schedulers to post for me is so easy to do and all it takes is a couple hours while McKenna is napping or watching 30 minutes to an hour of TV each day. I also work after putting her to bed as I mentioned in my 6 Things I Do Before Bed that Make Me a Better Mom post. That's two to four hours of glorious, UNINTERRUPTED "Me Time" that I can use to my advantage! Blogging is something that started out as a hobby, but it's grown into a major part of my life so I take the time each day to give it the attention it deserves. It's my way of taking a break and doing something just for me which all SAHMs need!
