  1. Ask other mom friends what they loved/hated about their registries. Get recommendations from others about what worked for them and what didn't.
  2. Take advantage of any registry discounts given. If there are bigger items you still need to purchase this will be a huge help.
  3. Think about what will make your new life with a baby as easy as possible. Planning on breastfeeding? Register for all the essentials PLUS a few things for formula feeding in case it doesn't work out.
  4. Keep the receipts and don't be afraid to return items that don't work for you. Don't keep or continue to use something if you don't love it.
  5. Do not register for clothes, stuffed animals, or toys. People love picking these out and giving them as gifts even if you don't ask for them.
  6. Add multiples of items. If you have an alternate living situation you'll want to keep things at both locations such as sleep sacks, bath tubs, bassinets, and other essentials.
  7. Don't forget to add things for mom. Don't be afraid to add things like nipple creams and nursing bras, pads, and covers.
  8. Include items you'll use past the first few months. High chairs, sippy cups, bowls and spoons, and items for baby proofing just to name a few things you'll be using before you know it.
  9. Want vs Need. We all want those trendy rockers that we see in Pinterest-worthy nurseries, but do we need them? No! A simple glider is much easier to use if you're breastfeeding and can look just as chic if you add your own touches.
  10. Do your research. Read up on the different features of car seats, strollers, swings, etc. and add the one that you feel will work for you and your needs.
