Favorite Holiday Scents

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

The past two months have really fueled my love for candles and perfumes. I love making my house smell like I just baked a pumpkin pie or a fresh pine tree and candles have become the best way to do that. I used to buy air freshener, but I felt like the scents only last a couple of minutes before fading. Going to the store is dangerous for me now because I can't resist stopping and smelling all the candles they have available. I also love how candles can be great decor pieces in my home; I love using them as centerpieces and placeholders on my coffee table and bedside tables.

I love all the festive scents in stores now and I thought I'd share my favorites with you. Hopefully you find a new favorite like I did!

candles:

I thought it would be super festive to glue a spare piece of garland around the top of this candle since I don't burn it anymore!
Peppermint Marshmallow was the first holiday candle I bought at the beginning of November. I love anything with a creamy, vanilla-y smell to it and I thought the peppermint was a different addition. The peppermint isn't overpowering and I barely smell it when burning the candles. I tried to save burning this candle until December, but failed miserably. The large container (Only $5 at Dollar General!) is almost all gone and the small tin ($1) is almost out too. I'll definitely be repurchasing this candle and trying similar smells from BBW and  Yankee Candle. If you like this, you'll love: Peppermint Marshmallow from Bath & Body Works, Marshmallow Fireside from Bath & Body Works, Merry Marshmallow from Yankee Candle

Black Tie was my very first candle from Bath and Body Works. I had smelled it on a previous visit, but it was part of their City Collection and called New York. It's a mixture of green sage, sandalwood and Tonka bean that reminds me of a gentleman's cologne. It's such a relaxing scent and I love to light this candle when I'm trying to wind down. I plan on stocking up on this one and making it my main home scent. If you like this, you'll love: MidSummer's Night from Yankee Candle (I also found this scent at Wal-Mart for $3!)

perfumes:

Victoria's Secret Very Sexy is one of the first scents I got into when I started wearing perfume. My college roommate put me on to it and I've been a fan ever since. Very Sexy is exactly how it feels to wear this! It's a very mature smell which is why I think I like it so much. It's a wonderful mix of vanilla orchid, sun-drenched clementine, and midnight blackberry that just feels right for this time of year. It's just a travel body mist, but it lingers like the perfume, which is great for any holiday traveling you might be doing. If you like this, you'll love: Adora by Kat Von D, Eternity by Calvin Klein

A Thousand Wishes from Bath and Body Works was recommended to me by a friend who said her little sister loved this smell. Luckily, I found a small bottle and pulled the trigger on purchasing it. I wish I had splurged for the larger bottle because this smells amazing! It's a holiday scent so it was literally made for this time of year. This fragrance mist is a festive combination of sparkling champagne, crystal peonies, and almoncrème. This is also a travel size that I plan on purchasing in bulk when I get the chance. If you like this, you'll love: Japanese Cherry Blossom from Bath & Body Works, Cashmere Glow from Bath & Body Works, Velvet Sugar from Bath & Body Works, F for Fascinating by Salvatore Ferragamo
