I am all about finding a great deal on quality clothing. Nothing makes me happier than a sale at LOFT or J. Crew. This is especially true for pieces that are essentially staples in my closet during this time of year. Puffer vests, boots, sweaters, and blanket scarves make up the fall uniform and buying these year after year can add up. As a fashion blogger I've learned a thing or two about saving money on essentials that are still high quality and I'm going to share all my tips and tricks to getting the best deal on that new pair of Hunter boots or Free People sweater!
Puffer Vests
Truthfully these vests are always on sale at some point during this time of year so it's not hard at all to get your hands on one at a reduced cost, including the most-coveted herringbone vest from J. Crew and J. Crew Factory. I made the mistake of paying full price for one of my vests and I'll never do that again. It went on sale the next week AND they had all sizes available! So if you've had your eye on one sign up for the emails and keep your eyes peeled for a great deal.

Rain/Snow Boots
I've never paid full price for any of the boots in my closet - not even my Hunter boots! How did I manage to pull that off? I utilize shopping tools like Shoptagr and ShopStyle that alert me when a product I've been eyeing has been marked down. Sites like Shopbop and Nordstrom often have surprise sales on high quality brands like Sperry, Hunter, Sam Edelman, Frye, and many more throughout the year so there's always a chance to grab a great pair of boots at an even greater price! If you live somewhere where winter is a little later in the year then you have a pretty good chance of getting a pair of rain or snow boots before the weather gets too bad.

Sweaters
Just like boots high quality sweaters often go on sale too. I've snagged all my favorite sweaters for the cheap during pre and post fall/winter sales. My top stores for finding good sales on sweaters are Madewell, Nordstrom, and Ann Taylor. I always buy them in neutral colors like black, gray, or cream so they work for casual and even dressier occasions. If you can't wait use eBates to get a fraction of the cost back and save yourself from buyer's remorse when you see the same sweater on sale at the end of the month.

Blanket Scarves
These simple, yet functional accessories can be one of the most overpriced (in my opinion) items in your fall rotation. In one of my first Save vs. Splurge posts I compared two identical blanket scarves, one from ASOS for $40 and one from Amazon for $14. I've even seen the same scarf at Target for $7! If you're going to splurge on a fall accessory make it a handbag or sunglasses that you can utilize during all four seasons, not just fall and winter. Scour sites like eBay and Amazon for dupes of those gorgeous blanket scarves you see all your favorite fashion bloggers wearing. Your pockets will thank me in the long run!
