Fall is a great time to experiment with different trends and pieces you might not usually gravitate towards and buying new clothes can be an amazing feeling. Sometimes you want to add a few inexpensive, trendy pieces to your closet since you know you'll probably move on to a new trend in a couple months. The shopper's remorse you feel after a big purchase can often kill the high you get from retail therapy. I am a firm believer that great pieces can be found without maxing out your credit card. Of course, quality over quantity often applies to pieces that are more timeless and you'll wear season after season, but affordable fashion should never be a bad thing! If you're looking to update your fall wardrobe without breaking the bank keep reading to see my under $100 fall fashion picks!
The 90's and early 2000's brought us amazing music, TV shows, and fashion...what a time to be alive...Lately, I've been on a major 90's kick (my newest Spotify playlist additions are proof of this) so this outfit was a major nod to my childhood. I was only a couple of years old when the 90's rolled around, but that hasn't stopped me from reliving the good old days through my clothes. I've been so inspired by all aspects of 90's post-grunge and R&B fashion so think dark purple lipstick, destroyed denim, flannels, chokers, and lots and lots of black. If I thought I could rock combat boots and a babydoll dress I totally would! On top of showing you guys my take on 90's fashion, I'm sharing my favorite 90's songs from all genres that I've been playing on repeat!
Fall is in full swing and we've finally pulled all the sweaters and boots to the fronts of our closets. Wearing the same shades of cream, olive, and navy can get a bit boring. Luckily, the Pantone Color Institute graced us with their top color picks for Fall 2016 fashion. "The desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism have inspired a Fall 2016 color palette that is led by the Blue family. Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections. Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades. Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic." I don't know about you, but that quote from Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, inspired me to try to incorporate more color into my fall wardrobe. Today on the blog I'm sharing all 10 fall colors of the year and how you can incorporate them into your existing wardrobe!

I've already worn this beautiful 'Carly' dress twice and I'm itching to buy a couple to style in different ways. The Carly comes in a wide array of fabrics, prints, and washes and has some amazing features such as a patch pocket, a flattering high-low hemline, and cool open sleeves." Y'all this dress is simply amazing! It's so soft and comfortable and can easily be layered for chilly fall weather or worn solo on warmer days. I think we've all had those days where we just feel...blue. We're not really sad, but we know that we don't feel happy. I had a lot of days like this last week due to my depression and most of the time I spend the day curled up in my bed with my Netflix queue. Dealing with depression is not easy and some days are better than others. I've learned that taking care of yourself mentally is such an important part of self care and improving your mental state. I've recently discovered a few ways to combat my "blue days" and make them so much better. Today I'm sharing my personal methods for better days and a cute blue look guaranteed to make any day better!

Losing weight is not an easy task. It takes dedication and some serious discipline. It’s been a couple months since I announced that I was on my weight loss journey with the help of alli® weight loss aid. It hasn’t been easy, but I know it’s for the best. Luckily, I’ve had the support of my boyfriend who is also joining me on my path to health! We’ve made an effort to eat more home-cooked meals and eliminate fast food from our diets, and we’ve also started working out at least 2 times a week. Without him I’d be doing this alone and probably would have failed within the first week. Staying motivated on your weight loss journey can be hard, but I’ve got 10 tips to make it a bit easier to stay on track!
Imagine going through life never being told you're beautiful because you're handicapped, or looking beautiful on the outside but suffering from a chronic debilitating condition on the inside. In today’s society, chronic illness is common. However, the issues facing these people are rarely discussed. While illness is hard on everyone, the perception of women and beauty while being ill is convoluted. If you illness is invisible, you do not receive help for your issues or your illness may be trivialized and if it is obvious people don’t know how to respond.
Lyme Warrior is creating a calendar to feature women who are battling serious chronic illnesses and how their amazing personality and drive keep them moving forward when the cards are stacked against them. We are featuring illnesses from Stroke to Lyme Disease to Huntington's. Women who may look "normal" and beautiful but are fighting serious, some even life threatening diseases. At Lyme warrior, we are ecstatic to present these beautiful women with tremendous spirit and drive, who continue to fight chronic disabling conditions on a daily basis with dignity and grace. These women are Chronic Beauty. Today on the blog I'm sharing a piece by Lauren Lovejoy of Lyme Warrior.
I am loving rose gold for fall! It pairs so well with almost any color worn around this time of year. You can also mix and match it with classic gold and silver to get more wear out of your pieces. Rose gold is truly the perfect metal for this time of year: it's not as warm as yellow gold or as cool as silver so it even matches the weather! I only own a couple pieces of rose gold jewelry, but I can't wait to invest in more as the season goes on. I'm also adding rose gold touches to my home decor. Regular yellow gold plays a huge part in the color scheme of my apartment, but I'm slowly transitioning to rose gold for fall! Today I'm sharing my favorite rose gold finds to wear and in home decor!
When I saw this plum floral dress in the window at H&M I knew I had to have it! I loved the print and color so much that I looked online for more pieces that featured it and was met with H&M's fall women's campaign all about reclaiming the word #Ladylike and redefining it. Strong, independent, free-willed, entertaining, opinionated, off-beat, and fearless. Do these words come to mind when you think about the term 'ladylike?' If the answer is yes then you get a cookie! JK, but seriously I think being a combination of these things is pretty close to being #Ladylike.
Every fall there always seems to be a handful of pieces that everybody gravitates towards. You stare at them online for hours and you wonder how you can easily incorporate these pieces into your existing wardrobe. I know that feeling and it honestly keeps me from buying items that I love. We no longer have to be afraid because I've put together the perfect list of 5 must have items for fall 2016 and how you can style them. If you're stumped on how to style those brand new fall pieces keep reading!
The first official day of fall was this past Thursday and I feel there was one huge, collective sigh of happiness from everyone in Virginia. It feels like summer dragged on forever and now we're all ready for a break from the heat and humidity. Fall is my favorite season for multiple reasons: the cooler weather, the feeling of a fresh start, and my #1 reason, all the fun fall activities! Today on the blog I'm sharing the list of fall activities that I hope to complete by the first day of winter. Last year I only crossed one of these off my list (check out my post all about the fun I had at the 2015 Virginia State Fair!), but this year I'm aiming to cross off all of them!
Booties have been a fall staple since I don't know when and there's always a couple pairs that everybody clambers after once the leaves start turning. This year I've noticed that peep toe and western-style booties are on everyone's wishlist (mine included!). I've already scored a pair of amazing peep toe booties and I couldn't wait to find an equally great pair of western booties. I stumbled across a pair of western-style booties from Jeffrey Campbell and instantly fell in love. The color, the detailing, the material - they were everything I had been searching for! I was not in love with the price tag though and I was lucky enough to come across a similar, but less expensive, pair of Mossimo Supply Co. western booties on Instagram and I feel even more in love. Side-by-side I honestly can't tell which is which! If you're looking to snag a pair of western booties for yourself and can't decide whether you should save or splurge keep reading!
The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus have only been out for 3 days, but I've been obsessed with it since the Keynote a couple of weeks ago. These new iterations of the most-coveted phone in the world boast new front and rear cameras, water and dust resistance, and two new colors. I was super excited when I found out I could upgrade to the new iPhone and I'm so glad I ordered mine when I did. The iPhone 7 Plus actually sold out in all the colors! I opted for the rose gold colorway, but the jet black and black colors are continuing to grow on me. My phone is totally naked at the moment so I've been looking at iPhone 7 cases all weekend and I stumbled across quite a few cute ones. I've rounded up my favorite must have iPhone 7 cases just in case (see what I did there?) you're in the market for a new case well!

White smiles are always in fashion and with the help of Smile Brilliant I was able to whitening my teeth I wanted without an expensive dentist visit or painful tooth sensitivity! I was beyond skeptical about using this kit due to my sensitive teeth. I've tried at-home kits in the past and the results were less than stellar and my teeth were ultra-sensitive afterward. I was lucky enough to give the Smile Brilliant teeth whitening kit a try and I was blown away by the results! Looking for a way to whiten your coffee stained teeth? Keep reading for my honest review of the Smile Brilliant home teeth whitening system and learn how you can win one for yourself!
Cozy sweaters, booties, sweaters, blanket scarves - I am so excited to wear all of these items again! While I'm here sweating it out and dreaming about cardigans some parts of the country are already experiencing the wonderful season that is fall. Let me say, I am 100% jealous of you guys right now! The weather has still been pretty warm (by pretty warm I mean like 80s and 90s everyday) here in RVA, but that hasn't stopped me from dreaming of fall fashion. So many fashion bloggers are showing off their amazing fall style and they have definitely inspired me to try some new looks this year. Today on the blog, I've put together a list of my favorite fall-inspired looks from a few of my favorite bloggers that I can't wait to try out! Keep reading to see what they are and how you can get the looks for yourself!
The first official day of autumn isn't until September 22nd, but it's never too early to invest in a new handbag for fall! Chloé has some of the best designer bags for this upcoming season. I'm a little obsessed with finding less expensive versions of their amazing bags as seen here. This fall I'm loving their Hudson cross body bags. From the intricate stitching to the still on trend tassel embellishment - this bag has everything you need to stay fashionable this fall! Of course, a bag this pretty comes with a not-so-pretty price tag: depending on the size this bag can cost up to $2300! For this post I am featuring the Chloé "medium" Hudson bag which retails for $2,150! For those of use who cannot afford to dish out that much moola, I've found a less expensive alternative. Keep reading to see if you should save or splurge this fall on a tassel cross body bag!
If you follow me on Snapchat, you might remember me posting about a shoot I was doing with other RVA bloggers. I am so thrilled to say that that shoot was for a local clothing boutique called Sweetest Stitch! Fizz & Frosting, According to Blaire, I Heart Vegetables, My Closet and Hers, Sweet Sauce Blog, and I all came together for a super fun evening of celebrating Sweetest Stitch. it was so much fun meeting a few of my favorite bloggers and owner of Sweetest Stitch and I cannot wait to collaborate with them in the future. You guys know I couldn't resist accessorizing this lovely dress with a few Kendra Scott jewels. Keep reading to get all of the details for what I'm wearing and little surprise!
If there's one thing every girl needs in her closet, it's a striped dress. It doesn't matter what color or cut, these babies are so versatile that you'll want to wear them everyday. You can pair them with sneakers, sandals, boots, cardigans, the list goes on and on! Today I'm styling this striped dress with a few of my new favorite items for transitioning weather and fall.
Today on the blog I'm sharing my favorite Instagram snaps and moments from the past month. August was a good month and I'm only a little sad to see it go. If you have read any of my recent blog posts, you'll know I am so psyched for fall to get here. I came back from a much needed vacation at the beginning of August and decided to share all of the fun pics I've posted on Insta since then. If you're not following me (@trulyyoursa) you totally should!
As a naturally curly girl fall and winter are the best seasons for me to straighten my hair. There's no humidity so it reduces my chances of my hair reverting back to it's natural state. During this time I like to play around with tons of different looks, but my all-time favorite fall hairstyle is ponytails. This simple style has so many variations that are perfect for anything such as rolling out of bed late for class or a well put together work look. To achieve these looks, I used my Silky Touch clip-in extensions from Irresistible Me. If you're looking for a great set of clip-in extensions, Irresistible Me has a set for any and everybody! You can check out my initial review here and decide for yourself. Keep reading to see how I styled my hair using these amazing extensions.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the most confident person in front of a camera. As a fashion blogger, confidence in front of the camera is a major key. One of my biggest confidence killers is my weight. It’s been a part of myself that I’ve struggled with the past couple of years and it’s what initially forced me to put my dreams of fashion blogging on hold. Luckily, I got over that hurdle, but part of me is still hesitant to try new trends and fully dive into fashion blogging based on my weight. Back to school season is right around the corner and even though I’m not going to school, this time of year is all about starting fresh and setting new goals. I plan on smashing my weight loss goals by eating right, exercising, and a little help from alli® weight loss aid. Now that summer BBQs and vacations are over it’s time to get serious about my weight loss. I’ve already made steps to accomplishing my goals by drinking more water and using the reminders to move on my FitBit. Keep reading to see how you can implement these easy steps into your busy lifestyle without spending a dime!
Drusy stones are one of my new favorite trends in jewelry (the other is rose gold, but more about that later). These glittering stones are perfect for adding a little sparkle to any outfit without being in-you-face like a diamond. It won't matter what day of the week it is and you'll catch me in a piece of drusy jewelry. I truly haven't met a drusy that I didn't like! Luckily (unlucky for my wallet), my job allows me to indulge in all things shiny and rocky. Today's post is all about combining my current obsessions: drusy jewelry and denim ensembles!
I can't say I'm 100% thrilled with this Fix. I did leave my stylist a note asking for certain pieces, but received none of the items on my list. She did try to send similar items, but I still wasn't impressed. I think the reason I am disappointed in this box is because I didn't feel like anything in this box was selected with my personal style in mind. The "stylists" like to claim they get inspiration from my Pinterest boards, but I feel like the pieces are just thrown in a box depending on your size and what's available. I usually sneak a peek at what I'm receiving in my Stitch Fix boxes by checking the Checkout page. After reading some of the descriptions and looking some of the pieces up on Pinterest I could tell that I was not going to like anything in this box. When my box finally arrived my feelings were affirmed and I almost didn't want to review this box for you guys. However, I wanted to give you my honest opinion on this subscription box service. Keep reading to see why this is my fourth and final Stitch Fix review.
